It's fair to say though that it appears to come into commonly accepted term for a "soft toffee type sweet" in the early half of the nineteenth century. Folklore tells us that the name came into being after a young American girl, whilst making her first attempt at toffee undercooked it and on removing it from the oven declared "Oh! Fudge!", a commonly used mild expletive in those far of days! Either way the name seems to have stuck and we've been enjoying the stuff ever since. Rich, soft and deliciously chewy, this confection comes to us in a wide selection of flavours of which everyone has a favourite.
